Geneva, New York – April 26, 2013 – Geneva Night Out, a free art and culture event on the first Friday of each month in downtown Geneva, has expanded to include 14 venues with multiple artists and events for its May 3rd edition. The event runs from 5:00pm until 8:00pm, with local artists hosted by a variety of downtown businesses.
“We are excited to see the growth of our Geneva Night Out activities to more closely reflect our mission of promoting local art, culture and our downtown business community in May, ” said Jim Meaney, director of Geneva Night Out. “From the Geneva Public Library hosting hands-on poetry instruction and readings, to the Smith Opera House’s “Art From the Heart for Recovery 2013 Lakeview Mental Health Services Annual Art Show,” to assisting the Geneva Music Boosters annual instrument donation drive for Geneva School District music students, the community has responded strongly in supporting Geneva Night Out’s effort to nurture the arts while encouraging local residents to visit and discover our eclectic, walkable downtown.”
“The monthly Student Art Gallery also continues in May at the Geneva Historical Society,” Meaney continued. “Many of our venues have scheduled multiple activities, adding even more incentive for visitors to spend time at as many locations as possible throughout the evening.”
Free self-guided maps highlighting the evening’s activities are available at all participating venues and businesses, and on the Geneva Night Out website (www.genevanightout.org).
Live music, poetry, photography, painting, dance, crafts, workshops, and special events are hosted at a variety of Geneva venues, while the event also spotlights the exceptional dining and nightlife provided by Geneva’s participating neighborhood cafes, restaurants, taverns and lounges. Artists who would like to exhibit their work for free at a downtown venue are always needed, and may sign up by visiting the ‘Artists’ section of the Geneva Night Out website.
